Dr Patrick Bowden

MBBS, FRANZCR

With over 20 years of experience as a radiation oncologist, Dr Patrick Bowden is a leading expert in the field of advanced radiation therapy. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Melbourne in 1994. His oncology career began at the prestigious Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, where he became Director of the Tattersall’s Cancer Centre. Dr Bowden has been instrumental in building some of the nation’s most advanced radiotherapy services, including his role as the inaugural Director of Epworth Radiation Oncology, where he established Australia’s largest stereotactic radiation therapy service.

Dr Bowden’s expertise is not just clinical but also academic. He has been the principal investigator in numerous groundbreaking clinical trials, including the TRANSFORM study, which evaluated the efficacy of stereotactic radiation therapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer. This was the largest trial ever conducted in the world on this disease. His work continues to shape the future of radiation oncology, with a focus on improving patient outcomes and advancing cancer care.

Dr Paul Conway

BHlthSci, GradDipHlthSci, MBBS (Hons), FRANZCR

Dr Paul Conway is a rising star in radiation oncology. He completed his medical degree with First Class Honours in 2013, and his specialist training in Radiation Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in 2021. He further refined his skills during a two-year fellowship under Dr Pat Bowden, focusing on advanced techniques in the management of urologic and metastatic disease.

Committed to remaining at the forefront of advanced technology, Dr Conway has studied Proton Beam Therapy in Japan and received further training and credentialling in the CyberKnife system in 2023. In 2025, he treated Australia’s first patient with prostate cancer at the 5D Clinics Melbourne centre.

In parallel, Dr Conway has completed additional postgraduate training in musculoskeletal management and focused education in low-dose radiotherapy (LDRT) techniques, and now leads the LDRT service for degenerative and inflammatory musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, plantar fasciitis and enthesopathies, providing a non‑invasive, anti‑inflammatory option for patients who have not responded to conventional therapies.
